In May, our Houston team was honored to host our inaugural Five Minute Mentors event. This event allowed strong, young attorneys to spend five minutes with a variety of mentors, each a leader in their practice. Our mentors came from corporations, large law firms, boutique practices, public policy institutes, and non-traditional legal roles. Our mentees were enthusiastic to gain insights that will help them shape their current practice and future careers. Thanks again to our mentors, mentees, and our gracious hosts for the evening at John Palmer Art. We look forward to future Five Minute Mentor events.
In early December our Houston office gathered with clients and candidates to kick off the holiday season. Guests to our happy hour were asked to bring a book for the library at Children’s Assessment Center. Newhouse + Noblin was excited to deliver the books generously donated by the attendees and Children’s Assessment Center was thrilled to have some new reading materials for the kids. Newhouse + Noblin was happy to support Aja’s Amigos as they make Great Strides to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Tish Elliott of Austin and her family walked in this fun event and raised awareness and funds to support research to find a cure for cystic fibrosis. There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. For more information, please watch this heart-warming video about what it’s like to have kids with cystic fibrosis.
In May, Newhouse + Noblin’s Houston office was thrilled to support a graduating senior through the BEAR Graduation Celebration. BEAR (BE A Resource for CPS Kids) hosts an annual event for high school seniors aging out of the foster system. The items provided help ensure a smoother transition into adulthood. We were honored to gift our graduate with some of the things he will need to start out on his own. Click here to learn how you can help this wonderful organization!
In April 2015, Newhouse + Noblin was honored to support the USO in Houston with a donation to provide the troops with refreshments and supplies as they process through the area. Last year the USO locations in the Houston-area served nearly 63,000 troops and military families traveling through the facilities. Additionally, the USO offers morale-building and family-strengthening programs to the 8,000 Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen and their families who are based in Southeast Texas.
