New Friends New Life

In July, our Dallas office spent a day with several moms and their children at the New Friends New Life center. New Friends New Life is a faith-based organization that assists women in overcoming backgrounds of abuse, addiction, poverty, and limited opportunities by providing access to education, job training, interim financial assistance and spiritual support. Our team provided food, fun activities, and fellowship to a wonderful group of individuals committed to a New Life.

Yes Prep

This month our Houston team spent a day volunteering with Yes Prep students through the Yes Prep Professionals program. This program offers professionals an opportunity to get involved with Yes Prep students and the community in projects across Houston. At Yes Prep Public Schools, 80% of students come from low income neighborhoods. YES stands for “Youth Engaged in Service” and prepares students for college success by providing real-world experiences and teaching them about the value of community service. Ronald McDonald House

For its April service project, Newhouse + Noblin provided lunch to families staying in the Ronald McDonald House (“RMH”) locations in Dallas and Houston. Many families travel far from home to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children. Often, it can be a long time to be away from home, or to divide a family. Even worse, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having their mom and dad close by for love and support. The Ronald McDonald House program provides a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost. All RMHs are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal, or where they will lay their head at night to rest. RMH relies on volunteers to provide meals to its occupants, so Newhouse + Noblin gladly purchased the supplies and its Dallas and Houston recruiter teams spent a fun morning preparing lunch and then serving approximately 100 family members at RMH. Supporting RMH is such a rewarding and fun experience. Click here to learn how you can help too.

Texas Food Banks

In February 2012, Newhouse + Noblin’s Dallas and Houston offices teamed up to support their respective cities’ food banks. Both teams of volunteers had a fun and rewarding day of sorting and packaging donated food for immediate delivery. The Houston Food Bank distributed nearly 70 million pounds of food items last year, feeding over 865,000 different people. Click here to learn more about how you can volunteer in Houston. The North Texas Food Bank likewise is a leading national member of the Feeding America Food Banks, providing access to nearly 90,000 nutritious meals each day. Community Partners of Dallas

On December 8th, Newhouse + Noblin participated in the Community Partners of Dallas‘ toy drive. Our team of volunteers spent a fun and rewarding day unloading trucks of donated toys, sorting items, and organizing the gifts for delivery before the holidays. Community Partners does an amazing job each year of rallying donors, gathering volunteers, and delivering hundreds of toys to abused and neglected children in Dallas. All of this is made possible through the generosity of Peacock Alley, which provides its warehouse to store the donated items and host the volunteers, in addition to providing the trucks and crews to pick up and deliver toys throughout the metroplex. Sincere thanks to Community Partners and Peacock Alley for letting us share in this wonderful cause!

Newhouse Noblin has done an excellent job finding top-quality attorneys to join our legal department. They invested time and effort to get to know the members of our in-house team, as well as our practice philosophies and culture. I depend on their talent, professionalism, and speed.
