Next-Gen Legal Leaders of Houston

After a pandemic pause, Newhouse + Noblin’s Houston office is excited to relaunch its second class of Next Gen Legal Leaders by adding a few new members to the cohort!  Think of it as Next Gen 2.1 (the post covid edition!).  Newhouse + Noblin’s Next Gen Legal Leaders is designed to prepare in-house professionals for senior leadership roles.  If you know anyone with 10+ years of legal experience that you view as a future leader, we would love to hear from you!  In order to nominate a future leader, what we need from you is the person’s name, title/employer, and email address.  Once nominations are received, we will reach out to the nominees with a short questionnaire to learn more about them and to share the details of the year-long program.  We are excited to add a few new members to our pre-covid class!

NEXT-GEN LEGAL LEADERS OF HOUSTON – Class 2.1

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

In particular, our class members are either at the Assistant/Associate General Counsel level and/or have 10+ years of legal experience. The goal of the program is to arm the next generation of Houston’s legal leaders with the skills to find and excel in positions of authority as part of in-house legal departments.
The program is a one-year commitment with an event each quarter. Events focus on the importance of a peer network, business basics for lawyers, a business leader’s expectations for their lawyers, and leadership principles.

Houston Next-Gen Legal Leaders

We were so excited to continue our Next-Gen Legal Leaders series in Houston last week! Our Q2 event focused on business basics for lawyers. Special thanks to our presenters Jessica Seff of Statesman Business Advisors and our general counsel presenter, Nicole Moss.

Houston In-House Roundtable

Our Houston office hosted a roundtable breakfast discussion on March 20 geared towards junior and mid-level attorneys who are considering a path towards in-house legal leadership.  The discussion centered around the experience and wisdom of three impressive leaders:  Dave Cooke (ARM Energy), Fermeen Fazal (Universal Pegasus International), and Veronica Foley (Precision Drilling).  Thank you to our leaders for sharing their advice and guidance and to our attendees for their thoughtful discussion and enthusiasm!

I’ve known Tish Elliott for years, both as a candidate and an employer, and I have complete faith in her ability to provide beyond-stellar counsel in either role. Every time I have worked with her, she has impressed me with her responsiveness, knowledge of the market and professionalism. Tish and Newhouse + Noblin have uncanny intuition for finding the absolute right person for the job: right for our corporate culture, right for our legal department and right for the company as a whole.
